Qualifying marks for NATA-2020

Qualifying marks for NATA-2020 would be based on the following rules:

  • 1. A minimum of 25% must be secured in MCQ portion (30 out of 120)
  • 2. A minimum of 25% must be secured in Drawing portion (20 out of 80)
  • 3. Overall qualifying marks (out of 200) would be based on post-exam statistics and at the discretion of the Council.

Drawing Test

The drawing aptitude test judges the following aspects:

  • Ability to sketch a given object proportionately and rendering the same in visually appealing manner
  • Visualising and drawing the effects of light on the object and shadows cast on the surroundings
  • Sense of perspective drawing
  • Combining and composing given three dimensional elements to form a building or structural form
  • Creating interesting two dimensional composition using given shapes or forms
  • Creating visual harmony using colours in given composition
  • Understanding of scale and sense of proportion
  • Drawing from memory through pencil sketch on themes from day to day experiences

Tie Breaking Rules for Overall Score

During merit list, if more than one candidate gets the same overall marks, tie breaking logic would be applied in the following order:

  • More overall marks obtained in Mathematics test component
  • Less wrong answers in attempted ones of mathematics test component
  • More overall marks in problems of Aptitude test component
  • Less wrong answers in attempted ones of aptitude test component
  • Earlier date of birth

For NATA entrance exams, you should have inters in drawing and design, you can study about the 3 dimensional, 2 dimensional drawings and their views, proportions of real images in paper and about the general knowledge in architecture.

COA knows that the students have no or minimal knowledge of Architecture. NATA testing the student's sensibilities like 3D visualisation, logical understanding and drawing skills that are formed in every student right from childhood. Some questions will be on architectural awareness like buildings of national or international importance from General Knowledge. The stduents can develope these skills reading, internet browsing or even by talking to architectural students, architects and other knowledgeable persons. A model NATA interface available on the NATA website to help students with the visual format of the test. There will be no model questions available as such.
