New IIT JEE Advanced 2013 Eligibility

Eligibility of IIT JEE Main 2013

The student who have passed in final examination of +2 (Class XII) or its equivalent qualifying examination in the year 2011 or 2012 or Those appearing in +2 in 2013 are eligible to appear in JEE Main 2013. 2010 passouts or before are not eligible to appear in JEE Main.

The candidates who are seeking admission in NITs, IIITs or CFTIs must ensure their eligibility for the admission in NITs, IIITs and CFTIs. The candidates who are aspirants only for IITs and ISM Dhanbad must ensure their eligibility for admission in IITs and ISM Dhanbad.

Qualifying Examinations for JEE Main

  1. The +2 level examination in the 10+2 pattern of examination of any recognized Central/State Board of Secondary Examination, such as Central Board of Secondary Education, New Delhi, and Council for Indian School Certificate Examination, New Delhi.
  2. Intermediate or two-year Pre-University Examination conducted by a recognized Board/University.
  3. Final Examination of the two-year course of the Joint Services Wing of the National Defence Academy.
  4. Any Public School/Board/University Examination in India or in foreign countries recognized by the Association of Indian Universities as equivalent to 10+2 system.
  5. H.S.C. Vocational Examination.
  6. A pass grade in the Senior Secondary School Examination conducted by the National Open School with a minimum of five subjects.
  7. 3 or 4-year diploma recognized by AICTE or a State Board of Technical Education.

Eligibility of IIT JEE Advanced 2013

Students Appear Board Exams First time in 2013

  1. The sutdent should write the JEE Main Exam Paper I and passed with Top 1,50,000 Rank from all categories like Genearl, OBC Non creamy layer, SC and ST.
  2. The student should also be in the Top 20% of his Board Exams (state boards or CBSE or ISCE ) in applicable categories.

Students Passed Board Exams First time in 2012

Students who passed their Board exam for the first time in 2012, the eligibility criteria for joining any of the IITs or ISM Dhanbad will be 60% marks in their 12th Board or equivalent (55% for SC/ST/PD candidates). This is a one time exception for JEE Advanced 2013 only.

Students Passed Board exams in 2012 and Re-Appearing in 2013

Students who passed 12th Board exams in 2012 but are re-appearing in the 2013 Board exams with a view to improve their performance, 60% rule will apply if they use their 2012 Board exam results and top 20 percentile rule will apply if they use their 2013 Board exam results. This will be a one time exception for JEE Advanced 2013 only.

Students Admitted Through Earlier IIT JEE

Students who have taken admission (irrespective of whether or not they continued in any of the programmes) or accepted the admission by paying the registration fee at any of the IITs, IT-BHU Varanasi or ISM Dhanbad, are Not Eligible to appear in JEE Advanced 2013.

Age Limits

Only those candidates whose date of birth falls on or after October 01, 1988 are eligible. However, in the case of Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST) and Persons with Disabilities (PWD) candidates, upper age limit is relaxed by 5 years, i.e. SC, ST and PWD candidates who were born on or after October 01, 1983 are eligible. Date of birth as recorded in the Secondary Education Board/ University certificate only will be taken as authentic.


Non-Resident Indian NRIs and Foreign National FN and Person of Indian Origin PIOs Can apply for JEE. They must score 60% aggregate marks in their qualifying examination.

State Code of Eligibility

State Code of eligibility means the Code of the State from where a candidate has passed +2 examination by virtue of which he/she becomes eligible to appear in the JEE Main. Visit List of State Codes of Eligibility of JEE Exam.

What is the contribution of board marks in JEE Advanced ?

You should score at least 60% of marks in your school board exam. You must be in the top 20% score of your Board results to be qualified for JEE advanced that is if 1000 students write your board for example CBSE, you must be within the top 2000 rank students. The JEE advanced exam merit list will be prepared from JEE advanced score and your board marks.

You are eligible to appear for JEE main this year. If you are appearing for improvement exams you have to write all subjects again.
