New IIT JEE Advanced 2016 Eligibility

Eligibility

  • Candidates who wish to write JEE (Advanced) - 2016 must write Paper - I of JEE (Main) - 2016 in the month of May 2016.
  • Only top 2,00,000 candidates (including all  categories) who qualify in Paper - I of JEE (Main) – 2016 will be eligible to appear for JEE (Advanced) - 2016.

The following procedure will be used for selecting the 2,00,000 candidates

OBC NCL / SC / ST : Candidates belonging to OBC NCL/SC/ST categories will be required to produce the original caste/tribe certificate issued by a competent authority in the prescribed format during admission. Seats remaining vacant in these categories shall not be filled by candidates belonging to any other category.

Number of Attempt:

  • A candidate can attempt JEE (Advanced) a maximum of two times in consecutive years. Therefore, candidates who appeared in JEE (Advanced) 2015 for the first time are also eligible.

Age Limit

  • Candidates should have been born on or after October 1, 1991. Five years relaxation is given to SC, ST and PwD candidates, i.e., these candidates should have been born on or after October 1, 1986.

Requirements for Mining Courses

Those who opt for Mining Engineering and Mining Machinery courses should make sure that they do not have any form of colour blindness. They will be required to submit a certificate from a registered medical practitioner to this effect at the time of counselling/ admission. The standards of visual acuity with or without glasses will be adhered to strictly for candidates seeking admission to Mining Engineering as per DGMS Circular 14 of 1972. Persons with one-eyed vision are not permitted to work underground. Candidates with the above limitations are not allowed to opt for admission to Mining Engineering or Mining Machinery Engineering.

Female candidates are not admitted to Mining Engineering and Mining Machinery Engineering at ISM Dhanbad, whereas the corresponding programmes at IIT Kharagpur and IIT (BHU) Varanasi have no such restriction.

NRI, FN, PIOs

Non-Resident Indian NRIs and Foreign National FN and Person of Indian Origin PIOs Can apply for JEE. They must score 60% aggregate marks in their qualifying examination.

State Code of Eligibility

State Code of eligibility means the Code of the State from where a candidate has passed +2 examination by virtue of which he/she becomes eligible to appear in the JEE Main. Visit List of State Codes of Eligibility of JEE Exam.

The 2011 +2 passed out students are eligible to apply for JEE main. But for JEE advanced the 2011 pass outs are not eligible.

I write 12th exam in 2013 from CBSE, what is the percentage requirement for me to be eligible for iit advance test ?

For IITs the student must secure 60% as basic eligibility in 12th results, he should be in the top 20% rank of CBSE 12th results, then only he is eligible to apply for JEE advanced, provided he has to be In the top 150000 rank of JEE merit list.

What is the contribution of board marks in JEE Advanced ?

You should score at least 60% of marks in your school board exam. You must be in the top 20% score of your Board results to be qualified for JEE advanced that is if 1000 students write your board for example CBSE, you must be within the top 2000 rank students. The JEE advanced exam merit list will be prepared from JEE advanced score and your board marks.

You are eligible to appear for JEE main this year. If you are appearing for improvement exams you have to write all subjects again.

The foreign nationals and the Persons of Indian Origin are eligible for JEE Main 2013, provided they must score 60% in their qualifying examination.
