JEE Main, IIT JEE Advanced Exam 2015 Eligibility


Eligibility of JEE Main 2015

The student who have passed in final examination of +2 (Class XII) or its equivalent qualifying examination in the year 2013 or 2014 or Those appearing in +2 in 2015 are eligible to appear in JEE Main 2014. 2012 passouts or before are not eligible to appear in JEE Main.

Students who appeared in class 12in 2012, did not pass in 2012, but passed in 2013 are also not eligible. Students must have taken at least five subjects in class 12th.

The candidates who are seeking admission in NITs, IIITs or CFTIs must ensure their eligibility for the admission in NITs, IIITs and CFTIs. The candidates who are aspirants only for IITs and ISM Dhanbad must ensure their eligibility for admission in IITs and ISM Dhanbad.

Qualifying Examinations for JEE Main

  1. The +2 level examination in the 10+2 pattern of examination of any recognized Central/State Board of Secondary Examination, such as Central Board of Secondary Education, New Delhi, and Council for Indian School Certificate Examination, New Delhi.
  2. Intermediate or two-year Pre-University Examination conducted by a recognized Board/University.
  3. Final Examination of the two-year course of the Joint Services Wing of the National Defence Academy.
  4. Any Public School/Board/University Examination in India or in foreign countries recognized by the Association of Indian Universities as equivalent to 10+2 system.
  5. H.S.C. Vocational Examination.
  6. A pass grade in the Senior Secondary School Examination conducted by the National Open School with a minimum of five subjects.
  7. 3 or 4-year diploma recognized by AICTE or a State Board of Technical Education.

State Code of Eligibility

State Code of eligibility means the Code of the State from where a candidate has passed +2 examination by virtue of which he/she becomes eligible to appear in the JEE Main. Visit List of State Codes of Eligibility of JEE Exam.

Number of Attempts and Year of Appearance in JEE Main

The number of attempts which a candidate can avail at JEE (Main) shall be limited to 03 (three).

The Eligibility for CFIs, Gujarath, Maharashtra, Odisha states are different.

Eligibility of IIT JEE Advanced 2015

  1. The sutdent should write the JEE Main Exam Paper I and passed with Top 1,50,000 Rank from all categories like Genearl, OBC Non creamy layer, SC and ST.
  2. The student should also be in the Top 20% of his Board Exams (state boards or CBSE or ISCE ) in applicable categories.

PwD candidates will be given relaxation in the eligibility criteria as per the decision of the Joint Admission Board of JEE (Advanced) 2015 in consonance with the directives of the Government of India.

Number of Attempts in JEE Advanced

A candidate can attempt JEE Advanced a maximum of two times and that too, in consecutive years. Therefore, JEE (Advanced) 2015 should be either the candidate’s FIRST attempt OR the SECOND consecutive attempt.

Appearance in Class XII examination

candidate should have appeared for the Class XII (or equivalent) examination for the first time in all the subjects in either 2014 or 2015.

Candidates who appeared for the Class XII (or equivalent) examination in 2014 and wish to re-appear for the same in 2015 (either for improvement or because they failed in one or more subjects), will have to re-appear in all the subjects in 2015.

Students Passed Board exams in 2013

Those who appeared for the first time in their Class XII (or equivalent) examination in 2013 or earlier are NOT eligible. However, candidates whose Class XII (or equivalent) examination Board results for the academic year 2012-13 were declared after June 2013 are eligible to appear for JEE (Advanced) 2015.

Age Limits

Candidates of GE and OBC categories must have been born on or after October 01, 1990 and those of SC, ST and PwD categories must have been born on or after October 01, 1985. This is the age limit for both JEE main and advanced.

Fitness for Mining and Petroleum Engineering

Special fitness and eligibility is required for mining and petroleum engineering. Visit mining and petroleum engineering fitness and eligibility.


Non-Resident Indian NRIs and Foreign National FN and Person of Indian Origin PIOs Can apply for JEE. They must score 60% aggregate marks in their qualifying examination.
