National Eligibility Cum Entrance Test - NEET 2016

The Medical Council of India (MCI), Apex body which regulates the Medical Education, declared National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) for All India Medical and Dental admission from this year 2016. The syllabus will be 50% syllabus of XI standard and 50% of syllabus from XII standard of subjects of Biology, Physics and Chemistry. This test pattern has been planned as objective test only.

NEET is being conducted exclusively for the 15% of the total merits positions for the Medical / Dental Colleges run by the Union of India, State Govt.s, Municipal or other local authorities in India

Total seats available through NEET may be Medical (MBBS - 1887 Seats) and Dental (BDS - 237 Seats).

Course Duration

  1. MBBS:The duration of MBBS course is 4½ years followed by internship of one year.
  2. BDS : The course is divided into 4 years of training and 1 year compulsory rotatory internship.

All India Pre-Medical/Pre-Dental Test (AIPMT)

The All India Medical and Dental admissions were previously done by All India Pre Medical/ Pre Dental Test (AIPMT).

Do I have to write any other exams in 2014, as NEET has been cancelled?

CBSE conducts a All India Medical Exam every year. The NEET Exam is not fully cancelled, only the state quota admissions through NEET is under issue. The all India Medical quota will be filled by NEET only.

How about NEET is it similar to AIPMT Examination? What will be the syllabus for NEET ?

CBSE will be conducting the NEET Examination 2013. The syllabus will be covered from 11th and 12th standard subjects of Biology, Physics and Chemistry.

Yes. Every citizen of India can eligible to apply for NEET. The students whoever undergoing +2 Higher/Senior Secondary Education with Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Bio-technology and Mathematics or any other elective subject with English are eligible to apply for NEET.

No, From the current academic year, the medical and dental admissions across India will be processed through NEET examination alone instead of AIPMT.

The National Eligibility Cum Entrance Test is going to be conducted from 2012- 2013 academic admissions. The dates of NEET exam has been declared as 5 May 2012.
