Orthopedically Physically Disabled
3% of the total seats available in Government Medical / Dental colleges are reserved for the Orthopedically Physically disabled candidates. In the first instance, candidates with disability of lower limbs between 50% to 70% shall be considered. If candidates not available in first instance then candidates with disability of lower limbs between 40% to 50% may be considered. The other conditions for admission will be applicable as in the case of the general category.
The candidates are required to produce a certificate from the District Medical Board of the area concerned constituted for the purpose assessing the nature and the extent of disability in the format prescribed in the TNMA Notification. The Certificate must have been obtained within three months prior to submitting the application. If the Certificate has been obtained earlier, the application will be rejected. It is subject to the confirmation by the Expert Committee constituted by the Director of Medical Education at the time of counselling. Candidate should produce a full size photograph exhibiting the deformity.
3 MBBS seats are reserved for children of freedom fighters. Adopted or Foster son or daughter are not eligible to seek admission under this category. The candidates should furnish the following copies of documents along with the application.
- Assistance Certificates / Freedom Fighter Pension Orders issued by the Central / State Government to the freedom fighter. or Jail Extract duly recommended by the District Committee for the Freedom Fighters.
- Particulars of the Freedom Fighter in the book containing Freedom Fighters name published by Government of Tamil Nadu.
- Proof that the candidate is the child of Freedom Fighter.
- Tashildar Certificate to establish the relationship with the Freedom Fighter.
- Birth Certificate to ascertain the parentage of the candidate.
- Legal heir certificate of the Freedom Fighter.
Children of Ex-Servicemen
2 MBBS and 1 seats are reserved for Children of Ex-Servicemen. The candidate should furnish a certificate as prescribed in the format, obtained from the competent authority. The special committee from the Defence authorities constituted for this purpose will scrutinize certificates. Eligible candidates will be selected on merit basis. The other eligibility conditions will be applicable as in the case of General Category.
Selection will be done by the Common committee constituted for this purpose at Anna University, Chennai. The mode of selection will be made as per the guidelines given in TNMA Notification. The candidates should submit the filled-in Special Category Form II along with two sets of attested Xerox Copies of certificates and testimonials of sports along with common application form (General Category) in the office of the Selection Committee in person on or before the last date of application. The other eligibility conditions will be applicable as in the case of General Category
