Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) are institutions of National Importance established through Acts of Parliament for fostering excellence in education. Over the years, IITs have created a world class educational platform that is dynamically sustained through quality teaching and internationally acclaimed research with excellent infrastructure and the best available minds.
The National Institutes of Technology (NITs) are a group of premier public engineering institutes in India. On their inception decades ago, all NITs were referred as Regional Engineering Colleges (RECs) and were governed by their respective state governments. NITs were founded to promote regional diversity and multi-cultural understanding in India. Comprising thirty autonomous institutes, they are located in one each major state/territory of India. In 2007, the Indian government declared these schools as Institute of National Importance. NITs offer degree courses at bachelors, masters, and doctorate levels in various branches of engineering and technology. All NITs are autonomous which enables them to set up their own curriculum.

In May 1950, the first in the series was established in Kharagpur at the site of the Hijli Detention Camp, where the British had incarcerated political prisoners, the institution was named the 'Indian Institute of Technology' before its formal inauguration on August 18, 1951.
Within a decade of the launch of the first IIT, four more were set up: IIT Bombay (1958), IIT Madras (1959), IIT Kanpur (1959), and IIT Delhi (1961).
Decades later, the sixth IIT was established in Guwahati (1994). India's first technical institute, set up in 1847 and known as the Thomson College of Engineering and subsequently the University of Roorkee, was ordained as the seventh IIT in September 2001.
In the year 2008, six new IITs were started: IIT Bhubaneswar, IIT Gandhinagar, IIT Hyderabad, IIT Patna, IIT Rajasthan
In 2012, Institute of Technology, BHU was designated the sixteenth IIT.
During the early years, the IITs benefited in varying degrees from material assistance and academic cooperation from developed countries - IIT Bombay from the Soviet Union, IIT Madras from Germany, IIT Kanpur from the United States, and IIT Delhi from the United Kingdom.
Over the years IITs have created world class educational platforms dynamically sustained through internationally recognized research based on excellent infrastructural facilities. The faculty and alumni of IITs have made huge impact in all sectors of society, both in India and abroad. The institutes are globally recognized as centres of academic excellence, and are reputed for the outstanding caliber of the students graduating from them.
IIT's offer admission into undergraduate courses leading to a Bachelor’s, Integrated Master’s or Bachelor-Master Dual Degree in Engineering, Sciences, or Architecture. We have 42 boards like CBSE, ICSE, and Other State Board across India. All the boards follow the same syllabus as per the National Curriculum Framework framed in 2005 by National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT)
Most of the All India Level Examinations consist of 50% of Class XI subjects and 50% of Class XII subjects. Physics and Chemistry subjects and syllabus are common for any All India Level Examinations like NEET, JEE Main, JEE Advanced, BITSAT. Student needs to concentrate both XI & XII equally for preparation.
Currently counselling for all the major entrance examination is done through online. Majority of the students after cracking the entrance examinations, normally narrow down their choices due to their limited knowledge. The JEE Main and Advanced counselling will be processed through several round of JOSAA admission process.
TICF Recommend to avail Choice Filling options once the JEE Advanced results are announced. Probably June 2nd Week the JOSAA admission process will start.
